Early-stage Parkinson’s is usually something you can detect early on before it turns into a late-stage condition.
If you think you may have Parkinson’s, you need to go to your GP and raise your concerns.
After that, they can refer you to a neurologist who will be able to run some tests and find out what’s your condition.
Sometimes patients may have a similar condition called Parkinsonism which is not a Parkinson’s disease but they will experience some similar symptoms.
If you’ve been diagnosed with Early-stage Parkinson’s and you have not seen any improvements after taking your usual medication, then it’s because medication can only improve the condition this much, and for better results, you need to do more.
You need to add other treatments like tailored exercises that will focus on the neurological areas that are affected by this condition.
This is where physio can help you achieve that and get you back to doing some simple tasks without the limitations you’re facing now.
We’re not saying that you shouldn’t take medication.
Medication is absolutely crucial in treating Parkinson’s disease, but if we add exercises to it, especially in the early stage, we can minimise the dependence on the medication.
