Help Improve Your
Freezing Of Gait?

Fraser Simpson is the #1 Parkinson’s experts in Glasgow and Stirlingshire. Who has been been helping people in Glasgow improve their freezing of gait with Parkinson’s without relying on medication.

What is Freezing Of Gait?

Freezing of gait is a symptom often experienced by people with Parkinson’s disease, where there is a sudden, temporary inability to move the feet forward despite the intention to walk. This “freezing” sensation can last a few seconds but is often unpredictable, which increases the risk of falls and injuries. Although the exact cause of freezing of gait in Parkinson’s is not fully understood, it’s thought to result from disruptions in the brain’s control of movement due to Parkinson’s progression.

Up to 90% of people living with Parkinson’s disease will experience freezing of gait at some point. This is a significant challenge for many individuals with Parkinson’s, and medication alone is not always the solution.

My Plans and goals when it comes to Freezing of gait

We work daily with people who experience freezing of gait, and it’s something we can make substantial improvements on to help you get back to enjoying life. Our goal is to reduce your worries about freezing when socialising or getting stuck in a chair at a restaurant or movie theatre, for example. Many of our clients find meaningful relief and support in their day-to-day activities after working with us for a while.

As a specialist practice in Parkinson’s care, we offer tailored exercise classes, one-on-one physio sessions, neuro coaching, and online classes specifically designed to help individuals manage freezing of gait more effectively.

One common issue we find is that many people aren’t strong enough to handle the physical challenges that Parkinson’s brings. Our sessions focus on building strength, agility, balance, and core stability to reduce the frequency of freezing episodes and equip you with strategies for when it does occur. This approach helps you stay on your feet and prevents you from getting stuck in the first place.

Programs like PD Warrior and tailored neuro-physio exercises can also help by building strength and agility, giving people with Parkinson’s better tools to manage or reduce the frequency of freezing episodes.
